St. Louis Blues @ Vegas Golden Knights

The Blues look to continue their winning streak and close out a perfect road stretch to start the year. The Blues with a win tonight will move to 3-0 on the year and head home for the home opener Saturday night against the Los Angeles Kings.

The Blues scorched seven goals Monday night against the Coyotes, with five goals coming in a span of five minutes. After two periods, the Blues led the Coyotes 6-2.

The Golden Knights have not played since last Thursday night where they lost 6-2, to the Los Angeles Kings. Vegas suffered two injuries that game to two major players. Both Mark Stone and Max Pacioretty went down with injuries in that game. Pacioretty will be out tonight and Stone looks to be out as well.

Keys to the Game

The biggest key to the game is to score first. Looking back to last season, when the Blues scored first, they held a record of 29-2-8. When the opponents scored first they held a losing record of 13-17-2. Against a good team like Vegas, you need to score first.

Blues

The second key to the game is staying strong in the net. So far this season, Binnington has been okay, not great but not terrible. He has made some great saves in the first two games, but Binnington gave up a few easy ones on Monday night. If Binnington is able to limit the easy goals then the Blues will be in very good shape.

Lastly the Blues have to stay on the forecheck. Against a quick team like Vegas, using your power and hitting will slow them down. Vegas has already been hit with injuries and COVID related issues so key players are out for them. Make the young guys for Vegas make plays.

Blues Notes

Pavel Buchnevich received a two-game suspension after his hearing on Tuesday. Buchnevich head butted Lawson Crouse of Arizona on Monday in the first period.

David Perron was not a part of the practice lines on Tuesday but he did skate. Perron may be a game time decision, but it is likely that he plays.
