SLU Women’s Soccer Begins

SLU Women’s Soccer

Last season the SLU Women’s soccer team finished second in the Atlantic 10 conference and finished with 15 wins. This year they begin their practices on Tuesday, July 31st as they eye an exhibition contest at Western Kentucky on August 10th.

The season begins on the road as they travel to Kansas State to face the Wildcats on August 17 and August 19 vs Kansas City and then come home for two contests beginning August 24th with Arkansas State and the 26 with SIUE.

The future looks bright as 10 starters return including Alli Klug who was named third-team All-American and first team All-Conference. Joining her are  redshirt-senior goalkeeper Mary Niehaus (first-team All-Region, first-team All-Conference); sophomore midfielder/defender Olivia Petit (first-team All-Region, first-team All-Conference, A-10 Rookie of the Year); senior forward Maddie Pokorny (second-team All-Conference); junior forward/midfielder Evie Lavelle (second-team All-Conference); junior midfielder Courtney Reimer (second-team All-Conference); and sophomore defender Brionna Halverson (A-10 All-Rookie team).

Also on the home schedule are Oral Roberts (Sept. 7), Missouri State (Sept. 9), Evansville (Sept. 16), Davidson (Sept. 23), Rhode Island (Sept. 27), Duquesne (Oct. 7), Fordham (Oct. 11) and George Washington (Oct. 21).
