SLU Soccer Ranked
SLU Soccer for the men is off and running in 2021 season and is getting national attention as they move up in the nationals rankings from #14 to #11 in the polls. SLU has a 9-0-3 record this year.
SLU Soccer Matches
SLU Men’s Soccer opened up the season back in August with a 2 OT win over Louisville with a 2-1 win. They followed that up win a 4-0 rout of Creighton at home. The month of September began with a 2-2 tie in 2OT to Illinois-Chicago. Then they blanked Memphis 3-0 to remain unbeaten. SLU soccer traveled to Dallas to take on SMU and came away with a 1- tie in 2 OT. Back home they fought to a 1-1 tie with SIUE.
Then they were off to Amherst, MA to face UMASS. That resulted in a 3-2 win for the Billikens. After a postponement with Central Arkansas the streak continued with a 1-0 win over Kansas City. Three wins in October over Fordham, Saint Joseph’s and VCU made it 9 wins without a loss.
SLU Soccer Stats
As a team, the Billikens have scored 30 goals and given up only 10 goals. Junior forward Simon Becher from Brooklyn, Connecticut leads the team with 8 goals and 7 assists. He currently has scored in six consecutive matches. Sophomore goalkeeper Patrick Schulte of St. Charles, Mo has all nine wins and a 0.77 goals allowed average. Columbia native John Klein leads all players with 12 assists.
Coach Kevin Kalish is in his fourth year as the had coach of the Billikens. Coming in to the 2021 season his record for SLU soccer is 25-16-7.
Georgetowne is ranked #1 in the country with a 10-0-0 record followed by Washington, Marshall, New Hampshire with Virginia Tech rounding out the Top 5.
