March 30th: Cardinals Open the Season Against Toronto Blue Jays
The second to last day of March has been announced as the day on which the 2023 Major League Baseball will begin. For only the third time in history, the St Louis Cardinals have the honor of being involved in the season opener.
The match will be hosted by the Cardinals at the Busch Stadium in St Louis, with the next two games on the 1st and 2nd of April also taking place at the same venue. This will be the first time that the Cardinals play in an Opening Day series against American League opposition, and will mark the start of a six-match homestead.
April 22nd: Longest Road Trip of the Season Begins
On Friday the 21st of April, the St Louis Cardinals will head to Seattle to play the Seattle Mariners. This marks the beginning of the Cardinals’ longest road trip of the season.
From their first game against Seattle, the Cardinals will then play 10 consecutive games against the Seattle Mariners, San Francisco Giants, and Los Angeles Dodgers. This road trip will keep them on the road until the 30th of April in what will be a grueling yet crucial sprint of games.
May 12th: Beginning of 19 Days Straight
Following their 10-game road trip, the St Louis Cardinals will want to get some rest, because less than a fortnight later they have another challenge in their schedule. Between the 12th and 30th of May, the Cardinal will play a game a day for 19 straight days.
The Cardinal’s games during this time will include series against Boston, Milwaukee, Los Angeles, Cincinnati, Cleveland, and Kansas City. This is an excellent time to keep an eye out for dropping odds, with a good probability of players being injured or rested in this period. If bookies do not react in time to a key player being out of the team, then fantastic betting opportunities will arise.
June 24th and 25th: Major League Baseball Heads to London
In one of the more exciting scheduling announcements for the 2023 season, in late June the St Louis Cardinals will head to London.
As part of baseball’s attempt to expand its global reach, both the St Louis Cardinals and the Chicago Cubs will head across the Atlantic to play a two-game series in front of a British crowd in the United Kingdom’s capital city. The Cardinals are technically hosts of the game and are odds on to win the match before the start of the season.
Thankfully, both sides will receive some schedule adjustments to accommodate the fixture. Both the Thursday and Friday before the 24th of June, as well as the Monday after the 25th will be kept as off days for the Cardinals and Cubs, allowing them to adjust to the six timezone flights between the East Coast of the United States and the United Kingdom.
July 27th to August 6th: Longest Home Stand
Cardinal’s fans will be relieved to hear that while the St Louis side has plenty of time away from home, they also have an exciting home stand planned in late July and early August.
From the 27th of July to the 6th of August, the St Louis Cardinals will play 10 games across 11 days at home. This will undoubtedly be an exciting time for fans to embrace their home side who will be eager to put on a show for their fans.
